Constraint Offsets bug?
Hi Dan,
Not sure if this is a known bug or not, I thought I'd mention it just in case.
I'm finding with CD Constraints (1.527 with R11.5 PC) that the constraint offset option is not working for the PSR, Position and Rotation constraints.
I select the two objects, hold Ctrl while clicking the command icon to add the constraint and I get the dialogue where I check the 'Set Offset' option but when I click OK the constrained object either jumps to the position/orientation of it's target object, or in the case of the PSR constraint, the Position, Rotation and Scale options in the tag are all inactive and as soon as I manually enable them I get the same shift in pos/rotation.
I reinstalled version 1.525 just to check and that works fine for me but I guess it's best to use the newest version ideally.
I've been working around it by making the object I want to constrain a child temporarily and then manually copying the offsets from the coordinates into the tag.
Cheers,
Brian

Howdy,
Yeah, I'm aware of that one. It was reported to me last week, so it's already fixed for the next update. Seems like it was R11.5 specific. I hadn't noticed it in my own work because I'm still on R10.1.
I had to choose between upgrading c4d or upgrading my machine, so I went for the machine; 2.66 GHz intel core 2 quad, 4 GB RAM, GForce 9800 GT w/1 GB VRAM, 3-500 GB HD's, setup with tri-boot: Mac OS, Windows 7, Ubuntu 9.10 (linux).
Adios,
Cactus Dan

Hi Dan,
Cool, glad it's been squashed, looking forward to the update.
Sounds like a nice machine, I built one last year that seems similar in spec, 2.83ghz intel core 2 Quad, 4GB ram, 9800GTX and dual boot XP 32 and 64.
I'll probably update to Windows 7 soon, I seem to hear good things about it. Have you run Cinema much under it?
Cheers,
Brian

Just to chime in on Win 7 and C4D. I run Win 7 64bit at home with C4D and CD Tools and haven't had any problems. Though, I think one of my usb ports went bad last night .
Looking forward to the next update .
Cheers,
Josh

Hi Josh,
Thanks for the info, XP is still working well for me but I've heard 7 can be a bit more responsive which is why I'm considering upgrading but I'm not in a big hurry about it. I didn't bother with Vista at all after hearing too many bad reports.
Cheers,
Brian

Howdy,
Hehe, you know an OS is really bad when you're setting up a new computer for your 76 year old mother and she adamantly says, "Now I don't want that Vista on there."
Adios,
Cactus Dan
